Every Sunday Sevanni would head out around eight-thirty to go visit his father. He passed away when Sevanni was just eighteen, they were close like a father and son should be. He was very sad as he sat by the side of his bed in that sterile hospital, wishing that he was home where he belonged. Ezra was sad along side him, but it had been Sevanni that shed more tears than even his mother. Watching his life slip away so easily as God and his band of angels took him to heaven.
The grass wasn't ready for dew point yet, but the towel tucked under his arm was there for comfort, and of course the need to not let his pants get soiled with grass stains. He held a copy of catcher in the Rye, spreading out the towel along side his grave, moving onto his back and spreading the book open to where they had last left off.
There was something about the night that Sevanni enjoyed thoroughly. The silence it held, especially in the cemetery. Nothing stirred, there was the occasional raccoon or possum, but he didn't have to worry about wolves and coyotes. Not that he was aware of. It wasn't too hard to see. He had one of those lanterns that ran on kerosene, lit dim but bright enough to where he could read the text on the book.
His voice moved through the air as subtle soft breaths were taken. Knowing full well that there was a vampires house not too far from that spot. Everyone spoke of him being a nice man, but Sevanni had yet to witness that for himself. The stackhouse's lived on the other side at equal distance, but his house had been a little ways off the beaten path.
Sevanni paused after a couple of chapters, remembering back when he was ten and expressing himself as he reminded his father in a storytelling fashion. A sigh was released and he readjusted the book to continue on.

At least once a week Shaden made a point of coming out to the cemetery, running his rands along the graves and imagining horrible things. Well, horrible to other people, but to him, it was beautiful. Death itself was beautiful. And he just so happened to pick Sunday to talk his little troll among the dead. None of his family was buried here. No one he'd known personally or had felt the need to shed a tear over at there passing. It was simply a way to spend his time, entertain himself when there was nothing else to do.
Of course there was plenty that he could be doing, but nothing interested him. When you lived this long, nothing was urgent. Everything could be taken at a slower pace and actually thought about before action was taken. He use to read a lot but even the words on the pages grew dull and boring.
There was a soft breeze to the night air on this night. Nothing that would even ruin his perfectly styled hair, however, it did allow for a humans scent to be picked up. Shaden didn't even faultier in his walk of the cemetery. It was no surprise that he was not alone, and he would have been a fool to think he was. Although, given the hour, it was somewhat odd for one human to be here. If it had been a group of them then he wouldn't have thought anything of it, but now he was curious. He simply had to go see the human, even if he didn't talk to him, at least Shaden would know what he was doing here.
So he changed his path, now heading toward the human, walking at a normal slow pace. In no hurry to get there any faster. His approach slowed even more when the human came into sight. He was reading out loud, laying on a towel next to a grave. Shaden smiled softly to himself as he listened to the words of the story. He'd read that book more times then he could remember.
Shaden sat half way on a grave, his feet still firmly on the ground and crossed his arms, and simply continued to listen quietly to the sound of his voice. When the boy paused, he moved his hands together to clap a few times. Alerting the boy to his presence. "You have a nice reading voice." He couldn't help that his voice was so smooth or that it was alluring even when he didn't mean for it to be. He was, by no means, trying to draw this boy to him. The comment was true and he could take it anyway he liked.

J.D. Salinger was his father's favorite author. They managed to go through a multitude of books over the years of Sevanni's youth. Often he would even allow Sevanni to read from one specific comic book after his homework was through. He had a knack for drawing which was why he admired only the well written and drawn out comics of them all.
At that time it had been acceptable for him to read the book, his father informing his mother that every boy had to turn into a man and deal with the harshness of other peoples fantastical realities. She had realized then that he was growing up and that she didn't want to let go of that boy she loved so well.
He rolled onto his side layng the book down by his elbow as he held his head in his hand, moving onward the words on the page. Sevanni paused and lifted up onto his hand from that elbow, holding himself up on the earth as he paused and felt like calling it a night.
Then out of nowhere he heard the sound of clapping at a close range. It hadn't been that far off, or so close, but close enough to hear the sound reverberate through the air. "You have a nice reading voice." A man spoke after hazel eyes lifted with a turning head to view a guy who appeared to be his age. He didn't look like anyone he knew from High School, and in a town like Bon Temps, everyone knew everyone.
Then there was that overwhelming feeling of allure and it dawned on him as bells chimed, making him mad just to hear it that this guy was not a guy but he was a vampire. Sometimes it was hard to tell, but Sevanni always had this alert system in his head that screamed out danger.
He wasn't afraid of vampires like many people in the world were. To him they were wonderful creatures of darkness he had read about in books and seen in movies. But to have them in real life was beyond anything he had imagined when they came out of the coffin.
He swallowed and half smiled, almost nervous but slightly more awkward. "Thanks...." That Louisiannan accent ripe as all get out. He wondered if in another life he had used a different accent. Maybe a sophisticated one of a nobleman like some of the vampires did.
He hadn't been up close to many vampires. Not that he didn't have the opportunity, but when it was those who thrived for a meal rather than bottles of True Blood, that's when he had to decline to walk that path.
"Do you always sneak up on people and listen in?" A little tiffy but not so much rude. He folded the book to a close and managed to slowly get to his feet. Freeing the newly made wrinkles in those khaki pants. The navy T-shirt was by far the worst, but it didn't matter. He was only going home and climbing into bed.

Shaden liked watching him, each breath, and that seeing the realization that he wasn't dealing with some ordinary human. A slow smile moved over his lips. He was quick, this one. To know right away that he was dealing with a vampire, and therefore, he would know to be careful. Not that it was likely Shaden would try to kill him, no matter what he said. There was no point in letting words said by a human get under his skin in anyway shape or form. It was the knowledge that he could kill the boy at any second that would hopefully keep the young boy in place and know to watch his words carefully.
His arms had once more been crossed over his chest, the black material of the t-shirt forming to his body nicely. Shaden didn't wear black often, it felt too cliché to him. A vampire wearing black. Yes, how original. Which was why he wore light blue jeans, and white sneakers to brighten his attire a little more. A pair of sunglasses could be seen inside his pants pocket, just barely sticking out. Shaden always was one for irony. A vampire caring around sunglasses as if he'd really need them.
"Thanks...." The accent was familiar, and it didn't escape him the half smile either from being nervous or awkwardness, maybe even both. Although, he couldn't remember what that awkward feeling was like, he couldn't understand its place in today's world. He was surprised the boy had said anything at all really, most humans preferred not to talk to him and his fellow vampires. Very curious indeed.
"Do you always sneak up on people and listen in?" He couldn't help but to let out a short laugh at the tone of his voice. Shaden watched him stand, and smoothing out his clothes He stood, an walked toward him, carefully so he wouldn't scare him or something. His soft sea glass orbs remained on his face to catch all the little emotions and savor them. He stopped, close enough that he wanted to reach out and touch him, he could.
He smiled again, only a glimpse of teeth showing, "Yes," He said after a few seconds, "I often tend to sneak up on a lot of people, even though I do not intend to. However, I do not always listen in." His voice was raised a fraction of an inch, knowing full well that he often spoke too softly for humans to hear. A kind of mixed accent could be heard when he talking loud enough, but the source of the accent could not be determined. It was a mixture of many different places. Different times. And different lives he had led. "Do you always read to the dead? Even though they cannot hear you?" He asked in return. A smile still firmly on his lips as if he were taunting him. "But I apologize for interrupting you." He added. Normally he did not apologize to anyone, but there were rare moments such as these when he would.

As his head turned up and eyes caught him, the guy was moving closer to him, which only made Sevanni stand a bit straighter. "Yes," Eyes softened a bit to that little bit of what may not bec considered a statement. "I often tend to sneak up on a lot of people, even though I do not intend to. However, I do not always listen in." A smirk formed over lips without realizing it. He was a bold one, but then again, most vampires were bold simply because they held a status above them. Or thought they did.
Humans being their food and whilst they were on top of the food change, it didn't make it right. Sevanni could be just as stubborn against them all, but he didn't hate just because they were different. "Well I think it's pretty rude....." He stopped himself from saying anything else. His private times were special to him because he had rare moments when he could have time to himself and not being cluttered around his family while being aggravated about not having a job.
He had a wonderful accent however. It seemed so distant in the southern way but there were tones and specific accents he could say were mixed in with it all. His senses picking up various countries and era's, unclear though on much of it. On the tip of his tongue, not quite slipping off.
"Do you always read to the dead? Even though they cannot hear you?" A sigh was released, Sevanni didn't much like that question. He was talking to a dead guy now, and he didn't even think he was listening. It felt as though he were mocking his own question, which made him rather irritated. He swooped down, uncaring about what he was in the moment, picking up the towel, the book, folding them under his arm in a heap.
"But I apologize for interrupting you." He stood now, bundle under one arm, a scratch to the itch on the back of his neck just below the hair line. "No.....no, it's fine..." He did speak his mind in the beginning rather rudely, he guessed it was only fair that he receive the same treatment in return.
"He's my father....I come here once a week and I read to him....." Not that he would care, but his explanations were usually warranted. A little blow out of air, a sudden overwhelming urge to laugh something off. It was as if his body was rearing to go with one slivered pump of fear. Something just felt a little off. "I uh...." He blew out an awkward expulsion of air once more. "I should get going....." He lifted an arm for his thumb to point behind him...Taking a couple strides backwards as he placed a little wave to the guy. "Nice to meet you." Spoken before he turned. It was always Sevanni ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There was no way Shaden could ever grow tired of playing with humans. They were so easily provoked. So easily angered that it almost wasn't worth the effort. Of course he could remember when he had been the same way, but he had gained a lot of patience sense that time, and therefore found the humans expressions to be very entertaining, more so then walking around the cemetery, walking on the many graves of rotted flesh and sinners.
His eyes scanned down him, sizing him up. He seemed about twenty-one or so. His scent suggested that much at least. No younger. He couldn't help but smile inside. Twenty-one was the same age in which he'd been turned. It seemed like a perfect age for him. Old enough to drink, but young enough to not know much about the world he lived in.
It was easy to tell this was the type of human that preferred their personal space, liked to dress well and be presentable at all times of the day, and night too so it seemed. There was by no means nothing wrong with this.. for a human. Shaden, however, wouldn't be caught dead dressed up for any reason.
He had been irritated. Shaden could tell by the way he had sighed and reached down to pick up his book and towel, fold them under his arm and then rise again. But now that he apologized he seemed to calm down and accept the fact Shaden had had a right to ask his own question in return. "No.....no, it's fine..." The words confirmed his suspensions. So quick to forgive.
"He's my father....I come here once a week and I read to him....." His eyes shifted to look at the grave, and then back to him. The words, 'I'm sure he can't hear you in hell.' were about to leave his half parted lips before he stopped them. It was one thing to listen in as he read to his fathers grave, and a whole other thing to make a comment about his father being in hell. He could, for this moment at least, show a little bit of respect for the dead he didn't know and the human standing in front of him who had caught his interest.
"I uh...." There was yet another rush of air that left the boys mouth. Shaden had thought at first it was because he wasn't so sure what to say next, but now he suspected something more. "I should get going....." Of course he did. It was fear, like warning bells going off his head alerting him to the fact that this might not have been the best situation to be in. Alone at night in the cemetery with a vampire. He smiled as he raised his arm and his thumb pointed to the direction behind him, taking a couple strides at the same time. "Nice to meet you." His smiled widened, showing a full length of teeth, no fangs at the moment, but they could appear at any given moment. The boy turned, as if truly believing he would get to leave so easily.
He waited a full 30 seconds before taking a few steps forward, and then breaking into a quick run, graves blurred as he moved, and then suddenly stopped directly in the humans path. "Has anyone ever told you that its a bad idea to turn your back on a vampire?" Words slipped out so casually, as if he were talking to an old friend, but the difference here is that the tone had a dark deadly edge, designed to frighten and scare.
His head was turned slightly to the left, his eyes avoided the human for a several seconds before they moved to him, a perfectly placed coldness in the sea glass orbs that normally showed such calmness. It was, however, nothing more then a perfectly played out act. "I was hoping this little meeting of ours could continue for a short while longer." The tone hinted that the human had a choice, but his body language said that he had no choice at all but to stay and talk with him.

Sevanni had felt it. That rush of air like quick wind fly past by. It was a quick thing to happen, but to see someone appear within a blink of an eye was another thing to even witness. His stomach caught, butterflies and hollowness emerged. Like that feeling when you are at the top of a roller coaster, and then it empties as you fall straight downward. Letting out a breath from the back of his throat as he laid eyes on the vampire. "Has anyone ever told you that its a bad idea to turn your back on a vampire?" He was going to reply. Say something back but he found no words, only parted lips and a blank stare was visible.
Sevanni wasn't timid. Not one of those scaredy cat's who often occupied Bon Temps. He usually stood up for himself and others when that protective streak came into play, but he knew that there was a chance of him never making it back home.
After Jessica had vanished out of nowhere, he knew then and there that she had something happen to her that involved a vampire. No one in her family had spoken about it, but said she was okay. They must have glamoured them. He was sure of it. Sevanni knew it was something that vampires did, as far as the whole garlic thing was concerned, well, that wasn't so much proven for or against them.
"I was hoping this little meeting of ours could continue for a short while longer." The vampire spoke again after bringing those eyes back on him. A blink was given, lashes hiding eyes as he looked down for a moment from his sighs, thinking about what he could possibly do.
He had options. He could throw his things at the vampire and sprint as fast as he could. But just as quick as he had moved in front of him, could be as fast as reaching him in the distance. That was out.
He could stay and talk with him. About what he had no idea. It wouldn't hurt, but then again it could. This time he could lie couldn't he? He hated lying. It was one of those domino effect things. One lie leading to another lie and so on and so forth. Maybe he would tell.
Sevanni looked back at him with hazel hues, his hands slowly raising as much as they could to face palms toward him. A few steps back..."Uh....ok...." He bit his lower lip gently, letting the towel and book slide down his leg and hit the ground with a soft thud. He could run lighter without them anyway if need be.
"I don't know what someone like you could want to talk about with someone like me." He spoke those words plainly, quizzicly in fact. Showing a bit of his awkwardness with it. He honestly hadn't a clue as to what he would want to talk to him about. He was just some other kid speaking to the dead.

The boy was startled, that much was clear. But then, who wouldn't be? It always gave him a rush to move so swiftly, taking humans by surprise as they attempted an escape only to find their path now blocked by the very one they had been running from. Shaden had been one of the few vampires around that hadn't been pleased with humans finally finding out about their existence. He'd preferred to stay hidden, but after some time he grew to accept it and realized life could be better without having to hide all the time. The only real down side was those damn fangbangers. Always chasing after vampires like some lost puppy, of course, even they could have their uses he guessed. Still, he didn't care much for them.
There were plenty of vampires he disliked as well. For insistence, that vampire Bill. He inwardly scoffed. Now there was a vampire that could get on anyone's nerves. His girl Sookie wasn't so bad but most defiantly not his type. Shaden wasn't one for serious relationships to humans. Oh sure they were nice to have as a lover or a pet but to actually date one was simply out of the question for him. Shaden couldn't bring himself to comment himself to any one women or man.
Oh yes, he walked that path, delving into the pleasures of both male and females. Why? Because he could. And what was the point of living forever if you didn't try new things? If you didn't take all of what life offered? He refused to limit himself to only women. Shaden didn't give a damn what others thought about it. He was a rebel. He was stubborn, and he could be cruel when needed. Lucky for this human, he hadn't done anything to even remotely piss him off.
Shaden waited as the boy sorted out his option that he didn't actually have. Like running. Every human always thought about running. But this one had seen how quickly he was able to move in front of him, hopefully he had a brains enough to know that would never work. Even if he happened to throw his towel and book at him.
The question Shaden had to ask himself was if the boy happen to take his chances and run, would he run after him? It was a tempting thought. Like a nice game of cat and mouse. Only this time he wouldn't be killing the poor defenseless mouse. It almost took the fun out of the game. Almost.
Shaden met the hazel eyes that finally looked back up at him. He waited for some kind of reply or action to take pace. Watching his breathing, listening to the sound of his heart, and wondering what he would do now. His hands raised slowly, as if admitting to defeat. How sweet victory tasted. Shaden followed him as he took a few steps back. Not allowing for the space between them to grow any larger. "Uh....ok...." His eyes locked on his teeth biting down on his lower lip, and then letting the towel and book fall the ground. His eyes moved to his. "Don't run." He said. And it was then that he decided that if he ran, he would chase after him. Simply because he could. To prove how hopeless the action had been.
"I don't know what someone like you could want to talk about with someone like me." The awkwardness was back, which made him smile. He took a step closer. "Well, we can start with introductions," His voice was once more smooth and soft, friendly even. "My name is Shaden Grace." He was slightly tempted to hold out a hand to him, and he did. His hand slowly moved out; testing him to see if he'd take it. Almost daring the human to take his hand and shake it. "Don't worry. I promise to have you home before dawn." He chuckled softly and continued to observe him.

"Don't run." The vampire spoke and Sevanni had for some reason shook his head no rather lightly, as though he wouldn't dream of it. He already knew. No, this kid was no fool. Already he was keeping so close. His personal space being intruded upon. Sevanni didn't much like it, but he didn't exactly caution the guy to step back at arms length now did he? "Well, we can start with introductions," That's how it starts. You learn their names, you grow to like them, and the next thing you knew you were like the Stackhouses with their like for vampires. And not just like, but more than that.
His tone had changed, it seemed softer, more....human? Thoughts protruded that brain and maybe he wasn't so bad. Maybe he wasn't some bad ass vampire who treaded the earth like most of his kind did. He swallowed normally, the build of saliva in his mouth too little to consider spitting, not gross enough to not swallow. "My name is Shaden Grace." His hand moved out toward Sevanni, his eyes looked at his before lowering slowly to view his hand. He wondered if it was cold. If it was stiff or soft.
As he thought about those things his hand was automatically moving up while eyes watched skin near skin and then finally touch. He was cold. Not as stiff as he had imagined, but he did have a soft way about himself. Sevanni lifted his head, pushing out words of introduction while he finally looked the vampire named Shaden in the eyes. "Sevanni Black." He really mumbled it out. Murmered really in the softest tone that was lathered with confusion.
What the hell was wrong with him? He was standing there shaking hands with a vampire. Something he had never done before, and the cold from his body was slithering up that arm, causing him chills with little tiny hairs standing up on the back of his neck. Finally he slipped his hand free, a little bit of hesitation there, but he managed to do it.
"Don't worry. I promise to have you home before dawn." There was an inward sigh of relief. At least he would make it home. Alive? Still human? God he hoped so. He wasn't ready to be a vampires meal. Not that he was afraid to die, but he didn't want to die that night.
Being turned all the same. What would it be like. How horrible would it feel to die and come back to life as one of them? An overwhelming sensation built inside of him, almost as if he was about to have a panic attack. He was still so close, like feeling a rush of Spearmint hit your tongue hard. Or having cinnamon crackle all over those taste buds.
Kneels folded and his legs followed suit, collapsing on his bottom from that overwhelming sensation. Okay, so it was a bit much to take in. Having a vampire want to talk to you. But in all actuality, he wasn't reacting how he imagined he would. He was breathing now, catching his breath. Forearms hanging over knees as legs parted to plant feet firmly on the ground in front of him. Not able to ignore the one standing in front of him.
Hands moved through his hair before he lifted his head. "I guess that means you're not going to kill me then." He said with a sigh of relief before a quizzical expression moved over his features. "Are you?" Part of his top teeth were showing on the left by the crooked tilt of his upper lip. Worried? Slightly, but he felt a calm inside of him. For the meantime.

Such a brave little human. At the touch of his hand he had let a smirk slip over his lips. How warm he was. Had Shaden been a younger vampire he wouldn't have been able to help himself from biting him. Here. Now. Instead he simply indulged himself in letting his hand fold firmly over his and press a single finger to his wrist, feeling his pulse, picturing his blood move through him pumping through his heart, keeping him alive. Yes, very fortunate that he was older then his human years made him appear.
"Sevanni Black." What an interesting name. He supposed it fit just perfectly for the young human. Sevanni Black. Not a name easily forgotten. Though his mumbled his own name, a hint of confusion to the soft tone. "Its a pleasure meeting you." Yes, even Shaden could have manners in moments such as these. Though only time would tell just how glad he was to have met him. He could not help but wonder what was running through Sevanni's head. Sevanni pulled his hand from his, after what seemed a small amount of hesitation.
He could tell that his promise to the boy had made him relieved. And it was amusing to know that his promise had many loopholes. He could return him home half dead or maybe even fully dead. Not that this was his plan. Why kill the very thing you were interested in? It would have been foolishness to do so. At least tonight. Again, only time would tell what his future actions would hold.
There were some that believed having a vampire as a friend wasn't safe, that it was a bad idea that could only end in death. Well, they were wrong. Having a vampire for a friend was the best thing any human could do. Especially if it was a vampire like Shaden. He stood up for the few human friends he'd made over the years. He stood and protected them when they needed it, and hadn't spared a second thought about it. It just came natural to Shaden. To protect that which he had taken a liking to.
He didn't reach out a hand as Sevanni's knees just seemed to give out, and he fell the ground for reasons he could only guess at. It could have been from the astounding truth that he was talking with a vampire or maybe it was the limited amount of space between them. Shaden's better judgment suggested it was he latter of the two possible options.
Shaden observed Sevanni catching his breath, starting to take in air more normally now, but not taking any action to help him up or to ask what was the matter. Sevanni was old enough to take care of himself. He didn't need some vampire asking how he was doing or babying him simply because he'd collapsed to the ground. "I guess that means you're not going to kill me then." His knees bent, lowering himself but not sitting on the ground, resting his arms on his legs. A soft smile pulling at the corners of his lips at the quizzical expression on Sevanni's face. "Are you?" Shoulders shrugged lazily. "I haven't decided yet." The lie easily slipped past lips, sounding like the truth.
He let the words sink into his head. Let him stir for a moment before he laughed softly and stood, pulling him to his feet with the slightest of ease. "I believe I told you not to worry." He said, "I will return you home safely. You have my word." As if he'd trust the word of a vampire. Not many would. It was a shame. There were plenty honest vampire such as himself out there.

Shaden bent to eye level, Sevanni's question about to be answered, but he wasn't so sure he really wanted the answer. "I haven't decided yet." For the first time his heart actually did pound against his chest, feeling the harsh thump inside made him want to fight for air, but he didn't. He tried to stay as calm as possible. He did say that Sevanni would make it home, but how? That was the question. Unharmed he hoped.
"I believe I told you not to worry." He had. But it wasn't the reason why Sevanni had faltered to the ground. He needed to gather his thoughts. Run every possible fix in his mind about what he was going to do and why he had managed to always stumble into trouble.
Assisted. Guided. Sevanni stood to his feet, not bothering to brush off his pants. Instead he stood at normal height, relaxed but still cautious. He couldn't help but lay eyes to the center portion of his body. Raising them slow to reach lips then eyes. It was the eyes he wanted to avoid. His belief was that the eyes were in fact the windows to one's soul. That you could see the truth in them far greater than words lifted from lips.
"I will return you home safely. You have my word." The words still rung in his mind. Safely being the main word. But how many vampires actually kept their word? was it like parlay and if you broke the code something bad would happen? No, no, that was all in the movies. Wasn't it? Then again, vampires had been fictional until a while back, so what else could be out there in that world?
Finally he gave in and let the air take him. Fate was working now, and if his word was golden, then he had nothing to worry about. If he was an okay guy, dead or not, then maybe Sevanni wouldn't mind talking to him again. Seeing him. If it hadn't been exactly so, there would be days of visiting father in the sun.
It wasn't as if he could enter his house. Everyone knew a vampire had to be invited in. But then again, that wasn't a proven fact either. Much like the garlic theory.
"This is too weird." He shook of the anxiousness, no one would think that Sevanni was someone to so easily hang around a vampire and chit chat about whatever. He let out a rushing breath, turning and walking a couple of paces, scratching his head and then turning around to look at the vampire. He strode back over to him, never having the pleasure to see one up close. Especially that close.
He bit his lower lips again, a confused look on his face as he let the space between them close in, only this time he had initiated it. His right hand rose, hesitantly raising it toward Shaden's face. Eyes looking from his eyes to cheeks and nose and mouth. A small chuckle was let out before he let wandering fingers roll over the blushing pink of his lips, feeling his chest swell deeper than the ocean's current. Wondering if he'd catch his hand to stop him from doing it.
A quick smile before returning to normal, letting out a breathy wisp of air with it. Middle and index touched the center and his left side of his lower lip, removing fingers and nearly placing them over his as if he were going to think, but thought against it and lowered his hand. "You're so...." Finding the words to describe it, never having actually touched a vampire before.
His hand had been cold, but his lips were softer than feathers and the shade was a bit off the normal, but he was highly fascinated with it all. "Different." Of course he was, he was dead, but it never ceased to amaze him of how different they truly were.
A relaxed expulsion of air. "Sorry, I've never been this close to a vampire before." He spoke low with his head turned to the side. God forgive him for even thinking about it, but it was rather amazing to be in front of something that had seemed made up for so long.

"This is too weird." Shaden hadn't given much thought to what Sevanni must be feeling at this time. Standing so close to a vampire, and talking with him as he were just another human. And not knowing whether he could trust what he said. Humans were so complicated sometimes. All those emotions and little fears of the unknown. But that was also the same reason why they were so damn interesting and fun to watch.
This whole thing might have been new to him, but Shaden had found himself in very similar positions before this night. Though known of them had showed such bravery when facing him. Humans reminded him of rats in a cage. When bonded together they appeared strong, ruthless, but get one of them alone and it would strike out in fear. Desperate to get away and find safety. So far, however, Sevanni did not show the typical signs of overwhelming fear he'd grown so use over the years, and many encounters with humans. One of the rare few.
He let Sevanni have his space as he took a couple paces away from him. He even turned his away from him, looking out at the rows of graves, counting them for no other reason but keeping his mind busy with a simple task. Once Sevanni had strode back over to him, standing closer then he thought he would, he turned to look at him. Shaden had been sure that if Sevanni were to move close to him again, it would leave a certain amount of space between them. He starred in wonderment at the human who had showed only a small amount of fear in his presence thus far.
There was, for the first time that night, a flash of confusion in his eyes as Sevanni's right hand slowly, hesitantly rose toward his face, the confusion, however, was gone the very next second. He understood. He was a little amazed by it, but he knew what Sevanni wanted to do. There was no hostility in his eyes as they met his, letting him know without words that this was okay. His fingers touched Shaden's lips, and he sucked in a breath, not releasing it, holding it as he scrutinized every detail of Sevanni, every little flash of emotion that happened to show in his face. His touched was terribly warm, he could feel it on his lips, and it was by far the most tempting thing sense he'd met him.
Sevanni had a nice smile, he decided. If it wasn't for his fingers still on his lips he would have smiled back. His lips parted ever so slightly, releasing the breath he'd been holding. His eyes closed for a brief minute, keeping himself in control. He'd made a promise, and he wasn't going to break it. No matter what. No matter how badly this boy tempted him. "You're so...." Eyes opened after words were spoken. So... what? How was he going to finish that statement off. So cold? The curiosity was starting to eat away at him. "Different." A laugh was pushed between lips, slightly louder then anything he'd done to far. "Yes, I guess different works just as well as anything else." He smiled. This one was a keeper. Shaden would have to keep a close eye on him from now on.
But what then. That was a good question. Would he only follow him around from time to time, make sure nothing happened to him due to one of his own kind. Although, Shaden preferred not to think too much about the future. Yes, he would follow him, keep him safe, after that he didn't know. He could only let fate take its course. When the time came to chose what he was to do, that's when he'd make his choice. Not now standing so close to him after promising to take him home safely just minutes before.
"Sorry, I've never been this close to a vampire before." A soft smile. It seemed he'd been smiling a lot this night, of course, Shaden had always been relaxed and then for he smiled easily. He was easily pleased. "There is nothing to be sorry for. However, I am surprised," He paused, looking at him meaningfully as if he could see into his mind and find what makes this human who he was. "I am surprised by your bravery. Not many humans have touched my face as you have. But I am also surprised that you've never been this close to a vampire. I simply find it hard to believe." His eyes seemed to become even softer then before, the pure amazement he had for Sevanni shinning through. "Have you ever talked to a vampire before?" He asked, that curiosity showing up again.

Sevanni felt the cool breath escaped lips, it made him bound over his bottom lip with teeth and his upper lip. He was always doing that. The strange boy with secrets. The loner who wore glasses when he read. Always licking his lower lip or nibbling on it when he had nothing better to do. He always carried chapstick in his pocket, spreading it on sporatically. It had been the only reliever that didn't allow his lips to go completely chapped. They had been nice and soft, without the similarities of Shaden's of course.
The laugh had nearly startled him, causing him to hint a flinch while letting the distraught chuckle of his own out. "Yes, I guess different works just as well as anything else." Sevanni chortled but it quickly died down. He was thinking too much on it. Worrying about something for nothing, but still there was a lurking darkness that sent off those bells. They had faded to a chime and them to nothing, but he knew they would always be there.
Life now a days was just all around strange. Times were changing, Bon Temps had changed all around slowly but surely. Sevanni was waiting for his change. While everyone else was running around living their lives day to day, he was forbidden to have a life of his own. Not so much forbidden as he was to take care of things someone like him shouldn't be doing.
After his father died his mother had a nervous breakdown. His grandmother had moved in because she was ill. He had taken care of her a few hours out of the day, Indie and Ezra taking their daily shifts. His mother was always medicated, keeping her mind straight so she wouldn't crack again under that emotional pressure.
So there was the reason for his free time. When he had it, it was special. Much like his time spent with his father. "There is nothing to be sorry for. However, I am surprised," Sevanni looked up at him from turning his head. Surprised? A vampire being surprised was just as surprising to him. "Surprised?"
"I am surprised by your bravery. Not many humans have touched my face as you have. But I am also surprised that you've never been this close to a vampire. I simply find it hard to believe." A soft ridden smile caressed lips as he inched a step back, sticking hands into his pants pockets, thumbs overlapping the outer pocket lining. His mouth was open, tongue sliding along the inside of his cheek before stopping and closing his mouth.
"Have you ever talked to a vampire before?" His eyes lowered as his response came out. "Maybe....I dunno...." He looked back up to Shaden once more. "I mean....maybe I did and didn't know it.....but I mean....now you guys are all over the place...out in the open." He spoke it amazingly, as if they were not so much glorified, but a surprise to know of their existence. "But not like this." Calmly finished. It was true. He hadn't actually known if anyone he spoke to had been a vampire, they could have been, yet, it wasn't openly announced.
Arms lifted, folding over his chest as one leg stood perched to the side. He had noticed that there were a couple of times when Shaden flashed a note of liking. It had calmed his nerves a couple of times whenever it felt like they were beginning to stir up again.
He had to hold a pause even for just one minute. Let it all sink in. "Why were you here?" His question a little half asked. "In the cemetery I mean.....you know someone who's buried here?" There was the curious cat sneaking in and raising it's tail. Sevanni liked to ask questions, but how many questions could he get away with a vampire?
It was possible he was prying. He could apologize right? Not seem so ambitious to be in his business. But then again, he was the one who intruded on him? "I don't mean to pry.....I have a habit of asking a lot of questions." Corny yeah. He knew it. But it showed some form of consideration toward another persons privacy.

"Maybe....I dunno...." Sevanni's eyes had lowered again as he answered. He wondered why he kept doing that. Maybe it was because Shaden didn't blink as much as he should or that his eyes were intense despite their softness as if he were constantly trying to figure out what he was thinking. It was harder these days to act more human now that he didn't have to try and fit it. He didn't look away often enough. He knew that already from other humans telling him so, but he hadn't tried to improve upon the so called problem. "I mean....maybe I did and didn't know it.....but I mean....now you guys are all over the place...out in the open." He smiled, but his eyes looked away from Sevanni's gaze.
They were all over the place. They always had been, now everyone knew. It would be nice if certain people realized that it was a little late to exterminate them. There was no getting rid of them now. It was far too late for that. It was the tone Sevanni used more then his words. As if amazed. Shaden didn't blame him. "But not like this." Shaden could hear the truth in the words. So even if Sevanni had unknowingly talked with a vampire, he still had never been this close to one.
Shaden's eyes moved back to Sevanni as he caught the movement from his peripheral vision. He appeared comfortable enough, all things considered. Standing close to a vampire who at any moment decided he'd make a better snack then a person of interest could be nerve racking. Yet he stood there as if this was an everyday thing for him. Of course that didn't mean he'd be able to stand an entire night with him or even a second or third night.
He was thankful for the time he'd been given. He may be dead, a vampire who had no choice but to drink blood, but this had given him the chance to learn. And he so loved to learn. It didn't really matter what. It was, however, the humans he spent the most time watching. It seemed odd even to himself that they would interest him the most, although he understood all about himself now as a vampire, he'd forgotten the stronger emotions of his human self. So he watched them so he could remember, even if only for a moment.
"Why were you here?" Shaden's head tilted a little to the side, "In the cemetery I mean.....you know someone who's buried here?" Shaden almost wished there were someone here to morn, just so he could tell the story of a lost loved one or friend. So how honest was he going to be with him? Surely it wouldn't hurt to tell the truth and say he was here out of mere boredom. The truth was always better, although, was it a lie if he could make his voice sound so truthful? Make the human believe the lie just by using the right tone.
He opened his mouth to reply but did not get a word out before he spoke up again, "I don't mean to pry.....I have a habit of asking a lot of questions." What a polite little human. "I also have that habit." His smile, though wide and friendly was also a little smug. Like saying 'Look at that, you have something in common with a vampire.' He thought about the answer he would give for another second or two before he opened his mouth a replied, "No, I don't know anyone buried here. My family is buried a long ways away from here." And anyone he would dare call his friend was either human, dead and buried away from here or a vampire who could end up living forever.
"I come here once a week because I like to imagine what it would be like to be.. truly dead. Of course this doesn't mean I would like to be." He smiled softly. He couldn't say to image being dead, because he was dead. It wasn't the whole truth, but it was all he needed to know. No reason to scare him off so soon.
Shaden looked away from him, looking out at the graves, seeing past them, his eyes missing nothing. "Are you an only child?" The question slipped out in soft tones, wanting to know about his home life seeing as that his father was dead. Did he have a new step dad, some sort of mentor to look up to? He would have asked then instead, but it seemed to straight to the point.

"I also have that habit." Another slip of breath between teeth as he chortled. Great. Having something in common with a vampire. But it wasn't like they hadn't been human before. Every vampire had to be turned into that from being a human. Mortal they called it. So it wasn't any big surprise. "No, I don't know anyone buried here. My family is buried a long ways away from here." A crooked smirk at the right side of his mouth as he moved eyes away after looking at him when he spoke. Looking at nothing in particular, but just to look away and imagine where away was.
"I come here once a week because I like to imagine what it would be like to be.. truly dead. Of course this doesn't mean I would like to be." A little show of a smile, Sevanni didn't really understand what it meant, in theory sure. That he would wonder if anyone went to visit him. The silence. Being nothing and no one any more after a life such as his long lived one. How old was he really? How long had he been the walking dead?
"Are you an only child?" Wishing he was he had to deny being such. "No..." Spoken as if it were a sad thing. Not that he didn't like having a brother and a sister. He loved them severely. Family was important to Sevanni, but lately it had been nothing but a bother.
"I have a brother and a sister." His arms unfolded and soon they just laid by his sides. "What about you? Do you have brothers and sisters?" Even if they were dead, it was still a question relayed back. "Where are you from?" Asking the same questions, but Shaden had piqued his interest due to his previous comment.
Movements were made to the right side, mounting a lean against one of the stand up headstones, letting his left hand dig into his pocket for some chapstick, rubbing the cherry flavored stuff along lips, rolling them to smear it over each portion of soft skin and then slipping the stick back into his pocket after putting the cap back on.
It was a pretty good night. A soft breeze, stars were out here and there, twinkling their little dance. These were the kind of things that made people wonder why the world was so bad when everything within it above them had seemed so good. Nature was a beautiful thing, and it was an interest that Sevanni had been fond of for quite some time.
Shaden was a good height. Sevanni must have been a couple of inches shorter than him, not by much of course, he could have been wrong. He looked so young, too young to be a vampire, but it was a sense of him that gave it away. Often people could tell the difference just by the look of their skin, but Shaden had a complexion to fool you with.
Then the question he had been dying to ask him finally came out. "How old are you?" Knowing full well he was asking a lot of questions, but he was a curious soul who couldn't help but wonder. How many of them lived in Bon Temps? How many lived in Louisiana? Was changing people an everyday thing? Did he only feed from humans, or was he a True Blood drinker?
Sevanni was tempted to try V once. He was at his graduation after party, hanging out with some fellow students, called into another room and asked if he had wanted to try it. It must have taken him ten minutes to think it over, but he wasn't sure it was for him. He had seen what it did to someone else in his class, and he didn't want to take that risk. But what did it taste like? How did it feel? And, wasn't it gross to drink someones blood?
Could he hear his thoughts? Did he know what he was thinking right now? Did he glamour him already and didn't remember? It was too worrisome to think about. If only he could shut his brain down for a little while.
